This year workshop will focus on crossmodal plasticity in deafness and
cochlear implant. The goal of the workshop series is to provide a
unique forum for researchers from a range of perspectives who are
interested in understanding crossmodal plastic changes occurring in
the brain after sensory deprivation and sensory reafferentation. The
workshop, different from larger conferences, aims at hosting a small
number of speakers (all invited) with no concurrent talks.
In addition to the invited talks, there will be a poster session. Note
that the poster session is open to resarchers working on crossmodal
plasticity also in other domains than deafness and cochlear implant
(e.g., blindness, sensory reafferentation in vision or
somatosensation, etc).
Four travel fellowships will be awarded to the best poster submissions
from young researchers.
We are very pleased to announce that the list of confirmed speakers includes:
- Pascal Barone (CNRS, France)
- Daphne Bavelier (University of Rochester, USA)
- Karen Dobkins (UCSD, USA)
- Anne-Lise Giraud (CNRS, France)
- Andrej Kral (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany)
- Franco Lepore (Université de Montréal, Canada)
- Helen Neville (University of Oregon, USA)
- Francesco Pavani (University of Trento, Italy)
- Brigitte Roeder (University of Hamburg, Germany)
- Robert Shannon (House Ear Institute, USA)
- Anu Sharma (University of Colorado at Boulder, USA)
We look forward to seeing you in Rovereto in August 2009,
With best regards,
Francesco Pavani
