[D-multisensory] Meeting of the American Synesthesia Association September 2008

We are pleased to announce that the 7th conference of the American
Synesthesia Association will be held at McMaster University in
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on September 26-28, 2008, and we hope you
will join us. The call for papers is on the website with a May 2nd
deadline: http://www.synesthesia.info/.

We have planned an exciting meeting including an art exhibition
"Synesthesia: Art and the Mind", a keynote address by Jamie Ward,
and a music/performance event featuring music by synesthetic
composers. The exhibition is being curated by Carol Steen and Greta
Berman. It will be a groundbreaking exhibition as it is the first
ever to show the works of known genuine synesthetic artists in
context. Several major museums and galleries are loaning works for
the show which will include paintings and drawings by five known
synesthetic artists and three who may have been synesthetic.

Many of the scientists working on the neural and perceptual basis of
synesthesia are planning to attend, as are a number of synesthetes. This
audience will be interested in studies of multisensory perception more
generally
and we suspect that you will find the recent work on the similarity of
synesthetic and typical perception to be informative. We hope that
your will join us.
