[D-multisensory] Workshop on Locomotion in VR - Call for abstracts

                                     Call for abstracts:

CyberWalk Workshop: Platform Presentation and Symposium
                                     April 17.-18.2008
                                  Tübingen, Germany

Walking is the most natural way for humans to navigate through their environment.
To date, however, it is almost impossible to physically walk through Virtual Environments
in an unconstrained way. In the EU project “CyberWalk” we developed an omnidirectional
treadmill, which together with markerless tracking, optimized control and several
perceptual tricks enables humans to walk through Virtual Worlds in a natural and
unconstrained fashion (www.cyberwalk-project.org). However, research on and for
human locomotion in Virtual Environments is still in its infancy. Therefore, we are
planning to hold a workshop bringing together research on locomotion covering a
wide spectrum of scientific disciplines .The two-day workshop includes the presentation
of the omni-directional CyberWalk treadmill with its scientific background and a
symposium with invited speakers and poster sessions.

We invite abstracts for poster presentations on the topic of locomotion research from all different scientific areas, including (but not limited to):

/// perception research
/// engineering
/// locomotion and gait research
/// control theory and modelling
/// sport sciences and rehabilitation
/// vr and visualization
