[D-multisensory] Post-doctoral position in Paris

A postdoctoral position is immediately available to conduct behavioural experimental design and testing, data analysis, data management and paper writing on research on auditory-visual integration in adults, as part of an ongoing EU-funded research project. The project will involve travel and collaboration with other laboratories in the EU.
Position Status: Full time until December 2008
Department: Centre Emotion, CNRS UMR 7593, La Salpetriere Hospital, Paris
Location: The work will be conducted at IRCAM (Institute for research and coordination into acoustics/music) and at La Salpetriere Hospital, Paris

Background to the Position: This post is part of the EU-funded research project CrossMod, aimed at the development of cross-modal perceptual techniques to improve the efficiency and realism of audiovisual 3D virtual environments.
CrossMod is a multi-disciplinary project, where computer graphics, computer sound, psychoacoustics and neuroscience researchers work together to study and advance cross-modal perceptual interaction and rendering. The approach is based on building mutual understanding between the different disciplines, and striving to achieve scientific results which are beneficial across domains. Algorithmic developments go hand in hand with experimental approaches, mutually informing the progress throughout the project.

Candidates for this post are expected to have experience with behavioural data collection, preparation and analysis. An interdisciplinary background linking Cognitive Sciences or Neuroscience, and Computer Science or Acoustics, is highly desirable.
