Re: [cdn-nucl-l] Article - America's Nuclear Nightmare>dinosaur type NPPs.

Not too surprised Rolling Stone would publish a fear monger pro green industry piece.
It mentions political rock stars of the green industry Rep. Ed Markey of Massachusetts.

The fact is Fukushima despite lamestream media tout the incident as a massive catastrophic nuclear disaster
prompting Japan government's response overkill by it's treatment of its nuclear industry even as mistakes have
been made recently over mSv dosages received in areas for children.
A major problem in N.America is BIG crony business in particular the hydrocarbon sector including the nuclear industry itself
(sans any recent NPP nuclear incidences N. American). It has consistently chosen to favor mega watt, wet bulb light water or heavy water rankine cycle reactor designs
over the alternative in small modular reactors (SMR) which only recently given some light with the ANS position paper . Nuclear big business is not too
interested in smaller NPP (Nuclear Power Plants) up-front construction cost reductions or passive safety features or recyclable spent fuels
or weapons grade proliferated resistant fuel or the aspect of providing adequate electrical baseloading or multi-use of SMR's for economies of scale.

AECL or Westinghouse or governments and its nuclear agencies is really not interested in tailored efficient nukes it's more interested in selling and training people to
dig giant holes in the ground to fill them with LWR/HWR spent fuels from dinosaur type NPPs.

Subject: [cdn-nucl-l] Article - America's Nuclear Nightmare

Here is an interesting article from Rolling Stone.  It cites the Union of Concerned Scientists (and others) in a critical review of the NRC.
