There is no evidence of such effects at low dose in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb survivor studies.
T.D. Luckey's books provide much evidence (many papers in the scientific literature) of increased fecundity in mammals following low-dose exposures. There is no basis for making suggestions of lower fertility for the low dose exposures in Taiwan. I have three papers from Japan that demonstrate a lower mutation rate in fruit flies in a cobalt-60 low dose rate environment than in the fruit fly controls in normal background radiation. I have this information in my Commentary on the LNT Assumption that was published Sep 10 in the Dose-Response Journal. I send you the Internet link as soon as it appears on the PubMed website.

Hello, It is important to ensure that the whole story about the effects of Co-60 contaminated buildings is discussed. Chang et al (Cytogenetic effect of chronic low-dose, low-dose-rate gamma-radiation in residents of irradiated buildings.Lancet. 1997 Aug 2;350(9074):330-3) suggest that exposure to low-dose ionising radiation in cobalt-60-contaminated buildings may decrease fertility, especially in females. They also indicate (Cytogenetic effect of chronic low-dose, low-dose-rate gamma-radiation in residents of irradiated buildings. Lancet. 1997 Aug 2;350(9074):330-3) that chronic low-dose and low-dose-rate gamma-ray environmental exposure in these buildings may induce cytogenetic damage in human beings. I have not searched for reviews or the current status of any of these papers. Regards, Leo Lowe
