[cdn-nucl-l] Re: cdn-nucl-l digest, Vol 1 #2855 - Radiation's Benefits ?? -CORRECTION

Hello,

My previous message gave incorrect citations  The correct ones are indicated below.
_________________________________________________________________________

It is important to ensure that the whole story about the effects of Co-60 contaminated buildings is discussed.

Lin et al (Prolonged time to pregnancy in residents exposed to ionising radiation in cobalt-60-contaminated buildings. Occup Environ Med. 2010 Mar;67(3):187-95. Epub 2009 Sep 22) suggest that exposure to low-dose ionising radiation in cobalt-60-contaminated buildings may decrease fertility, especially in females.

Chang et al  (Cytogenetic effect of chronic low-dose, low-dose-rate gamma-radiation in residents of irradiated buildings. Lancet. 1997 Aug 2;350(9074):330-3) suggest that chronic low-dose and low-dose-rate gamma-ray environmental exposure in these buildings may induce cytogenetic damage in human beings.

I have not searched for reviews/critiques of either of these papers.

Leo Lowe
