[cdn-nucl-l] Re: cdn-nucl-l digest, Vol 1 #2855 - Radiation's Benefits ??
Hello,
It is important to ensure that the whole story about the effects of Co-60
contaminated buildings is discussed.
Chang et al (Cytogenetic effect of chronic low-dose, low-dose-rate
gamma-radiation in residents of irradiated buildings.Lancet. 1997 Aug
2;350(9074):330-3) suggest that exposure to low-dose ionising radiation
in cobalt-60-contaminated buildings may decrease fertility, especially in
females.
They also indicate (Cytogenetic effect of chronic low-dose, low-dose-rate
gamma-radiation in residents of irradiated buildings. Lancet. 1997 Aug
2;350(9074):330-3) that chronic low-dose and low-dose-rate gamma-ray
environmental exposure in these buildings may induce cytogenetic damage
in human beings.
I have not searched for reviews or the current status of any of these
papers.

Leo Lowe
