Case for going green, Dec. 29

If going green is such a good business venture, what happened in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) a few days back when it signed a deal with South Korea for four large nuclear reactors capable of supplying 5,600 megawatts of electricity? If ever there were a place for solar generation, it would be the UAE.

Maybe they don't have Ontario's exorbitant feed-in tariffs there to "encourage" the venture capitalists. In fact, before deciding on nuclear, solar, wind, coal and gas were considered.  But in the end it came down to nuclear on the basis of cost, reliability, construction time and environmental impact.
