[cdn-nucl-l] Let's gather up a collection of 'talking points' for outreachpurposes
Folks,
Driven by an upcoming event where I will need to speak to politicians on
nuclear power, and driven further by a call from OCI wanting me to do
some outreach, I am 'reaching out' to this list first to gather up some
PowerPoint (or whatever) slides that surely must exist. Please toss
whatever you have my way and I will gather up what I get as best I can
and make them generally available to all of you via CANTEACH or
www.nuceng.ca or the
CNS site or someplace. I guess we need some general slides on how a
reactor works and how it generates electricity. Maybe a few slides
on reactivity and radiation. Some nuclear power facts would be
great (cost, locations, % of generation, # employed, CO2 averted,
...). But from there on, we need some slides to address the issues
on the minds of the voters (hence on the minds of the politicians).
Waste. Comparative risks. Benefits of radiation. And so
on.
I could troll the CNA site, Jeremy's FAQ, etc for facts and make up my
own slide show but SURELY someone as done this already. I have
plenty of techie stuff but that is not appropriate, of course. Some
of you are quite active in outreach; here is your chance to
share.
