Morgan, thanks for your reporting of Danish wind
power performance.
I suggest that one must also ask, at what price
does this 24% capacity factor installation of over 3 GW provide a service to the
Danish electrical energy customers?
The investment in the wind generation equipment and
the distribution side of the system, plus the cost of maintaining replacement
power available (such as "hot, spinning, but lightly loaded fossil plants -- or
committed import options") seems to be an elusive number.
I still maintain that building wind power
systems for large utilities is more about generating good will than electrical
energy. How much good will can we afford?
Surely there are better ways to invest these
resources.
