If Mr. Hamilton thinks that wind mills are going to power the
transportation system, he has a lot of waiting to do. I can see it now,
thousands of trucks sitting on the highway, waiting for the wind to come
up. A little puff happens, and all the trucks move forward two meters,
followed by more waiting.
I heard a brief statement on the radio today that more people in Ontario
are realizing that life powered by windmills means life without birds.
Both the turbines themselves and the transmission lines and towers are
killers. We can put air cooled reactors right in the middle of our
cities, and keep living with birds, or we can continue to build animal
destroying infrastructure - roads, towers, windmills, suburbs.
I have long been a promoter of cars with two motors - one electric, the
other combustion. The increased demand for electricity that this will
cause will force planners to build new nuclear reactors. I see the
electric car as a wedge that can open the door for new nukes.
