[cdn-nucl-l] FW: [Quirks & Quarks] Canadian Inventions

Title: FW: [Quirks & Quarks] Canadian Inventions

FYI -

Sadly, the Wonderbra made it into CBC's top-50 Canadian Inventions ahead of the CANDU reactor, but it is nice to see Harold Johns and his Cobalt-60 cancer therapy unit getting some acknowledgement.

Hello

What do you think is The Greatest Canadian Invention?

How would you compare insulin to the instant replay? The Canadarm and
the combine harvester?
How about the pacemaker, the Wonderbra or the goalie mask? What makes a
great invention and which is the greatest Canadian invention of all?

Well, CBC TV is looking for the number one invention this country has
produced and they need your help. And so do I. I'm hosting that TV
special called, The Greatest Canadian invention, and if you visit their
website at www.cbc.ca/inventions you can have a look at their list of
fifty remarkable Canadian inventions and choose the one you think is the
greatest of them all. The one with the most votes will be crowned as the
winner when we broadcast our TV special in January.

And let them know what you think of their list. Something missing? Send
your feedback to the program on their web page:
http://www.cbc.ca/inventions/yourturn.html

Then on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007, tune in to watch the two-hour
special, The Greatest Canadian Invention, on CBC Television.

I can't tell you which one I'll be voting for - but if you tune in to
the program in January, you just might find out. (here's a clue: Steve
Maclean is using it this week).

Hope to hear from you..
