Bruce A (four CANDU reactors, each 770 MWe net) will be refurbished by Bruce Power A Limited Partnership (BALP). BALP is a new partnership formed out of Bruce Power, a private consortium of TransCanada Corporation, BPC Generation Infrastructure Trust, Cameco Corporation, the Power Workers' Union and The Society of Energy Professionals. Cameco is not participating in BALP.
Bruce units 1 and 2 (shut Ap 4 1997 and Oct 8 1995, respectively) will be retubed and receive new steam generators.
Bruce A units 3 and 4 were restarted in Jan 2004 and Oct 2003, respectively, having been shut down since early 1998. They have since attained capacity factors of 71 and 77%, respectively, including the early testing periods. Bruce 3 and 4 restarts were not full refurbishments - those will occur as required after Bruce units 1 and 2 are completed.
