Government inability to recognize the value of nuclear power is
amazing. Consider this web page:
http://www.energy.gov.on.ca/index.cfm?fuseaction=english.electricity
The page includes a graph that shows that 49% of Ontario's power was
produced by nuclear plants, yet the topics on the page menu are:
Home
Media Centre
Conservation
Electricity
Renewable Energy
Oil and Gas
Nuclear power is not even addressed as a topic. Amazing. This bias
can be seen in almost all Canadian government web sites. Nuclear is
only ever mentioned when it just cannot be ignored, and even then it
is given minimal attention. Oil and gas owns the show, and rewables
are allowed to appear to give the appearance that the show is not
monopolized. The oil and gas strangle hold has to be broken before
any government can get enthusiastic about nuclear power.
