On Monday, work around the "Approach to Critical" was completed. Unit 1 achieved criticality at 10:05 pm on Tuesday, August 2---the first time that the unit has been critical since it was taken off line on December 31, 1997. Shortly after that operators transitioned successfully from manual reactor control to Regulating System control.
