Hydro doubles exports to U.S., slices imports

Hydro-Quebec says it doubled electricity exports to the U.S. this year in the January-May period, while reducing imports by 63 per cent, generating an extra $300 million for the province. "High water levels in our reservoirs allowed us to be active on U.S. markets," a Hydro-Quebec spokesperson said. New York and New England accounted for about 80 per cent of the electricity purchases.
