RE: [cdn-nucl-l] See You In Court

Dear Rod,
What "material limits.... no longer exist" ?
As far as I know, the reactor shielding mass problems encountered in nuke-powered aircraft in the 1950s still exist today.
Did I miss something ?

Trains can pick up energy from
overhead lines.  Trucks are a bit of a problem.  They would probably
have to drop off the spent aluminum and pick up a fresh block to
continue going.  They don't have much time for recharging.  And
airplanes may have to continue using oil based fuels.

Randal:

Don't be so sure. Large planes and trains can, in fact be supplied with nuclear power sources using currently available technology. Both were considered in the 1950s, but there were some technical material limits then that no longer exist.
