No need to hypothesize a meteorite - altho it IS a risk we should guard
against (if possible...) - a determined eco- (or other) terrorist with a few
ounces/grams of Composition C4/Semtex/"plastique" and a detonator could do a
very nice job of disrupting that pipe-line.  If smart enough to use a
long-term delay in the detonator circuit - readily built with off-the-shelf
parts from your friendly neighborhood Radio Shack - say six months or so -
they could easily get away to strike another day.
