Entergy sees quarterly profit above mean estimate

NEW ORLEANS, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Entergy Corp., an electricity and natural
gas provider, on Tuesday forecast fourth-quarter earnings well above
analysts' estimates, helped by solid results at its wholesale marketing
operations./
Entergy (nyse: ETR - news - people) said it expects fourth-quarter earnings
of at least 28 cents a share, including income from a partnership with Koch
L.P. Analysts on average had expected 20 cents a a share, according to
Thomson First Call.
Entergy said it expects both utility and nuclear results to be little
changed from a year earlier in the quarter. Results at Energy Commodity
Services are expected to be higher due to a solid performance at
Entergy-Koch, a provider of wholesale energy marketing and trading services.
Entergy also said it still expects 2003 earnings, before special items, of
$3.75 to $3.95 per share. Analysts expect $3.85, according to First Call.
