New kind of nuclear fuel container, designed for spent fuel transportation
and storage, has been successfully tested In Russia. Composed of metal and
concrete, that new kind of spent fuel container set manufactured in
Kurchatov and St. Petersburg enterprises. As said at Trial Board comments:
"Tests have confirmed technical and design reliability of taken decisions to
assure container safety for 50 years of storage and transportation". Wide
application of new containers will provide NPP commercial operation
expansion and will release spent nuclear fuel storage problem at site,
trusted in Ministry.
