[cdn-nucl-l] Fast-Reactor Research Update
Argonne National Laboratory's RAE (Reactor Analysis & Engineering)
Division recently had its annual review. The summaries and
presentations from that review are posted at:
A quick sampling indicates that you will find there much information
regarding the current state of Argonne's (mainly fast-neutron) portion of
the nuclear-power art and the direction research is headed -- the
long-term goals being economical power, inherent safety, proliferation
resistance, elimination of actinides from the waste stream, and full
extraction of the energy from the mined fissionable material.
NOTE: I recommend the .PDF versions of the
documents. The .DOC versions won't open with my not-the-latest
MSWord97, and the .PPT (PowerPoint) versions range up to five or more
times the size of the corresponding .PDFs.
Instructions for downloading to PCs are at the bottom of the Web
page. Mac users are on their own (but the .PDFs should
work).
