Anyone know why this might take a week to fix while the reactor's down?

S.Korean atomic power plant leaks heavy water

Story Filed: Thursday, July 18, 2002 10:03 AM EST

SEOUL, Jul 18, 2002 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- A reactor of Wolsong Atomic
Power Plant of South Korea Wednesday night leaked heavy water, the
country's national news agency Yonhap News reported on Thursday.

The atomic power plant, about 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul,
suspended the leaking reactor's operation and sent some 10 workers to
repair it, Yonhap said.

The leakage of a small quantity of heavy water was found from a valve of
the secondary cooler system at 11:10 p.m. (local time) Wednesday, the
power plant's officials were quoted as saying.

Although in protective fatigues, the 10 repair workers were said to
receive a tiny radioactivity measured 0.1 to 0.2mSV, about half of the
radioactive exposure to X-ray technicians in hospitals, the officials
said.

The radioactive exposure was found only around the leaking valve but not
in and outside, and it will take one week to repair the valve, they
said.
