Letter to the Editor

On June 30 Citizens Against Radioactive Transport to Yucca published a
large ad in The Chronicle's editorial section urging that radioactive
wastes be retained in Georgia.
If this is yet another step in their campaign to shut down our nuclear
power plants, then they owe us a more complete offering; it might be
entitled "Safe, Clean, economical energy for the 21st Century."

Perhaps they do know a safer, cleaner, more economical way than nuclear
power. We await their detailed and complete recommendations. Until then,
we will enjoy our affordable air conditioning, and we will ship our
wastes to Yucca Mountain with about as much risk as being hit on the
head by a meteor.
