China Planning 1-Million-Kilowatt Nuclear Power Stations

CHINA, Mar 29, 2002 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- It's reported that the
indigenization of 1-million-kilowatt nuclear power stations is being
planned now. China nuclear industry is hopeful to realize upgrade in the
near future. 

It's reported from "The 7th International Nuclear Industry Exhibition"
inaugurated today that China is constructing and running 2 kinds of
indigenous nuclear power stations of 0,3 million kilowatts and 0,6
million kilowatts now. China has had the device ability of
1-million-kilowatt nuclear power station now. 

The General Manager Li Dingfan for China National Nuclear Corporation
(CNNC) says that nuclear industry is an important part of high-tech
industry. China nuclear industry has made great progress during The
Ninth Five-Year. China will construct nuclear power stations vigorously
in 2002. Hereinto 2 nuclear power stations have been put into production
at the beginning of 2002. Another 6 nuclear power stations are on
construction now. The 6 nuclear power stations will be put into
production in succession within 3 years. The total content of nuclear
power stations of China will reach 8,7 million kilowatts at the end of
The Tenth Five-Year. 

Many internationally renowned companies attend "The 7th International
Nuclear Industry Exhibition", such as Hitachi, Electricite de France
(EDF), Atomic Energy of Canada and Westinghouse Electric.
