[cdn-nucl-l] "Clean" Coal on Quirks & Quarks, March 30

Title: "Clean" Coal on Quirks & Quarks, March 30

FYI -

This Week on Quirks & Quarks:

"Clean Coal: Oxymoron or Green Solution to Air Pollution?"

Remember the bad old days, when coal was our major source of energy?
Well, guess what? Canada is still producing almost 25% of its
electricity from burning coal. And in the United States, the figure is
more than 50% - and growing. We're pumping millions of tonnes of carbon
dioxide into the atmosphere, and contributing to air pollution and
global climate change. But coal is cheap, abundant and easy to produce.
So some scientists are trying to devise ways to make coal better - with
new and cleaner methods of burning. Others say that clean coal is a
contradiction - and a pipe dream.

Plus - Pissing pandas: how Li-Li uses pee-pee to make her mark.

All this and more on Quirks & Quarks, with host Bob McDonald, Saturday
right after the noon news, on Radio One.

[comment:  It would be nice to see something on the oxymoron of "clean natural gas" as well - JW]
