Re: [cdn-nucl-l] reply to "Asking Tom Adams for some answers"

Tom Adams asked me to post his reply to me. At the risk of confusion, I will
not republish my original message to him; the gist was I asked him for some
comments about Adams Atomic Engines and Atomic Insights. The following is his
reply to me:

QUOTE
Sorry for my tardiness. I am delighted to meet a nuclear industry
representative
who appreciates free energy markets.

The free market nuclear camp has recently suffered a defection, with British
Energy now asking the UK government for subsidies to support is "replace
nuclear
with nuclear" campaign. I would be very interested in your views on this
development.

GCRs have some advantages relative to Rankin cycle nuclear engines although
they
share many of the disadvantages including dual-capable fuel cycles, waste
management uncertainties, and a checkered operational history.

There are some bits on your web site
<http://www.atomicinsights.com/aug95/cost.html> you might want to update,
including this statement: "Nuclear electricity is also competitive on an
international scale. Canadian producers provide a large portion of the
electricity supplies to New York, largely from their nuclear capacity."
Ontario,
Canada's most nuclear dependent jurisdiction, has been a net importer of power
from the US in the last two years. Ontario's nuclear electricity production
has
dropped by about 25% since its peak in 1994. Nuclear problems effectively
bankrupted our government owned utility in 1997.
