FYI - Tonight (Tues., Dec. 18th) at 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm, the Discovery Channel will air a segment on the breakthrough technique of "neutron holography" pioneered by staff from the NRC Steacie Institute and AECL located Chalk River Laboratories.
From the NRC news release:
"For the first time, atomic-resolution holography has been carried out using thermal neutrons. Results from recent experiments show individual atoms within a sample of the mineral Simpsonite [kind of makes you smile, doesn't it? - JW]. Demonstration of the feasibility of this technique has potentially far reaching consequences, in a wide range of material studies such as hydrogen in metals, or the structure of polymers and biological systems.
"The work of Bhaskar Sur, Ron Rogge, Robert Hammond, Vinicius Anghel, and John Katsaras was published in Nature last month. It will be also featured on the Discovery Channel at 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Tuesday 18th December."
