A second project, Korean participation in completion of
a third PHWR at Cernavoda
in Romania, is being pushed along
by Mocie. Romania has been operating Cernovoda-1 since 1996 and is now in advanced preparation for
financing and completing Cernavoda-2 with
assistance from AECL. Most of
the components for Cernavoda-2 have already been
manufactured, Korean officials said. But
that is not the case for Cernavoda-3, and DHIC
now aims to secure contracts for manufacturing
them on the basis of licenses from AECL. "Finishing Cernavoda-3 with Korean help is a very real
prospect," one Mocie official
said.
