Another Ontario Power Generation full-page ad appeared in the Saturday September 23 issue of The Globe and Mail newspaper, page A6 (see below). Removing pollutants from emissions of coal-fired stations is quite costly.
Our production is down 60%.
And we couldn't be more excited.
(In fact, it's our air emission production that is down.)
Essentially, that's what we've done. Our fossil stations are providing Ontario with just as much electricity as 16 years ago, while producing 60% lower air emissions. Our unique mix of power sources - fossil fuel, nuclear and hydroelectric - allows us to generate 75% of our electricity with no smog producing emissions whatsoever. But we're not done yet. We'll spend over a quarter of a billion dollars over the next three years to further reduce emissions at our fossil stations. After all, keeping Ontario running is our business; doing is responsibly is our vow.
Putting our energy to good use. ONTARIO POWER GENERATION
